David Solberg:
The RV Handyman
David will present FREE seminars each day of the show in the Seminar Tent located near Gate C. Stop by and learn basic RV maintenance tips on a range of topics of interest to every RV owner.
RV Buyer’s Seminar — Covering the language of RVs, choosing the right floorplan, new vs used, diesel or gas, 5th wheel or motorized. This is not a "canned" presentation, rather tailored to what the audience is looking for.
RV Driving — Both new and experienced RV owners will learn tips and techniques to keep you safely rolling down the road. How abs brakes work, what to do in case of a tire blowout, and getting to know your rig are just a few of the topics.
RV Handyman Series —
With a background in automotive repair, David went to work at Winnebago Industries in the early 1980’s starting on the line and moving into various roles in warranty, inspection, owner relations, and spent over 5 years traveling in RVs training dealers and managing trade shows across the country.
As Marketing Manager he wrote and produced over 100 training and product videos and developed “The Motorhome School” a comprehensive buyer’s seminar designed to help clear up the confusion of shopping for an RV.
As owner of Passport Media Creations, David has developed several RV dealer training programs, the RV Safety Training program for The Recreation Vehicle Safety and Education Foundation, and the accredited RV Driving Safety program being conducted at rallies and shows around the country.
In 2008 in conjunction with Affinity Group Inc and Bob Livingston, David wrote, hosted and produced three episodes of the ABCs of RVs, an RV Handyman series covering 120-V electrical systems, 12-V systems, refrigerators, and fresh water systems.
Utilizing information and video clips from this series combined with his technical expertise, he has taken to the road, conducting RV Handyman seminars at shows and rallies along with the popular “RV Buyer’s Seminar”.
An extensive automotive and educational background, combined with actual on-the-road motor home experience help to create a comprehensive RV Buyers Seminar that covers the language of RV's, RV construction, how the systems operate, and critical issues like weight, towing, and maintenance.
The RV Buyers Seminar is an entertaining and informative look at issues of buying a new RV or even a used one. This one hour seminar is designed as an open forum to discuss the questions and concerns of each individual group attending and provides a question and answer segment following. Topic include gas vs. diesel, new vs. used, and motorized or 5th wheel trailer.
David is a contributing writer to most major RV publications, The RV Handyman Club, and Good Sam ERS. In 2010 he authored the “RV Handbook 4th Edition” a comprehensive “How-To” guide for new and experienced RV owners. This 17 chapter “How-To” book covers tips on choosing the right RV, troubleshooting tips for refrigerators, generators, and electrical systems, as well as safety and driving information. The “RV Handbook” is being marketed by Trailer Life Publications through the Good Sam Club and sold on Amazon.com and national book store chains such as Barnes and Nobles. top
